Setting Goals for Scripture Study

I set a goal to study my scriptures more frequently and regularly and the best way to achieve that is to keep it in the front of my mind and keep a record of my progress. Then, to report it. So, I set up an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of my reading verses a % read goal for the month and the year.

I've uploaded this empty file to the Davis_Tribe and ClawClan Yahoo! group sites if you want it. Or, you can ask me for it.

Of course, just reading isn't the same as studying and pondering the scriptures with a prayer and invitation for the Spirit, but it's a step in the right direction.

  1. I came, I saw, I read. ;)

Seriously, though. I do the same with keeping track of my scripture study and notice it is drastically better when I can SEE my progress. I use a blank calendar and note daily what I read, any questions I have or thoughts/a-ha moments.

Love the blog! Keep it up!

  2. I was wondering what was up with that spreadsheet. One thing you might do is upload it to Google Docs and then link to it in both groups. Then you can just update the one document and not need to maintain the copies.

  3. I had not planned to update it on the web, but posted it as an aid or starter for others. but reporting from time to time should help my progress. Thanks for the idea.
